About 34, 000 NABCO beneficiaries exited into permanent jobs, says Bawumia



The Nation Builders Corps (NABCO) programme, which was launched by the Akufo-Addo administration in 2018 has seen 34,000 of its beneficiaries transition into everlasting jobs, vice-president and flagbearer of the New Patriotic Occasion (NPP) Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has disclosed.

This milestone, in response to Dr Bawumia, is a part of the federal government’s broader efforts to combine these younger graduates into the workforce after gaining beneficial expertise by varied NABCO modules.

Responding to a query throughout a media engagement on Sunday (25 August) in Accra, Dr Bawumia mentioned the transition of those 34,000 beneficiaries into everlasting roles displays the programme’s success in enhancing the employability of its individuals and addressing unemployment in Ghana.

The beneficiaries had nevertheless been pursuing the federal government over unpaid allowances spanning the previous 9 months. They’d threatened to launch a sequence of protests to get these arrears paid.

Dr Bawumia nevertheless indicated that efforts might be made to get arrears owed beneficiaries paid.

“I’ve raised this challenge, and that is data that has come to me already and I’ve raised this challenge with the Finance Ministry, and we are going to observe that up for the beneficiaries”, he assured.

The programme initially recruited 100,000 younger graduates and was designed to offer short-term employment throughout sectors resembling training, well being, and agriculture.
