The Nationwide Well being Insurance coverage Scheme (NHIS) says it has cancelled all enrolment funds made by contributors of the Social Safety and Nationwide Insurance coverage Belief (SSNIT).
This was revealed by NHIA boss Dr Da-Costa Aboagye at a media discussion board in Kumasi.
Dr. Aboagye defined that since SSNIT contributors are already direct contributors to the NHIS, it’s unfair to impose further financial boundaries on their entry to healthcare.
He emphasised that waiving this payment wouldn’t collapse the scheme however would guarantee the automated enrolment of all SSNIT contributors.
Presently, SSNIT contributors pay about GH¢8 to enrol within the insurance coverage scheme.
The NHIA believes this fee is stopping some people from profiting from the chance to be enrolled.
