The Nationwide Pensions Regulatory Authority (NPRA) has ordered the Social Safety and Nationwide Insurance coverage Belief (SSNIT) to halt plans to contain Rock Metropolis Restricted as a strategic investor in 4 SSNIT-owned inns.
This directive goals to permit the NPRA to conduct due diligence amid public debate on the problem.
In a letter dated June 28, 2024, NPRA CEO John Kwaning Mbroh acknowledged, “Part 67 (2) of the Act requires us to challenge tips to your funding choices. Subsequently, you’re directed to droop all processes involving Rock Metropolis Lodge Restricted because the strategic investor for these inns.”
The inns affected are La Palm Royal Seashore Lodge, Elmina Seashore Resort, Busua Seashore Resort, Ridge Royal Lodge, and Belief Lodge.
In the meantime, North Tongu MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa just lately led a protest towards promoting SSNIT’s inns to the Minister of Meals and Agriculture, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, who owns Rock Metropolis Lodge Restricted.
The protest goals to strain the federal government to cease the proposed sale of a 60 p.c stake in these 4 inns.
